The African Baobab Tree is also known as the Tree of Life, based on it's ability to store water in a dry season. For this reason it has a symbiotic relationship with elephants who strip the bark to access the moisture in times of drought. Sadly these trees, which live for hundreds of years are dying, due to climate change. Growing up in Zambia made this a painting that just had to be done. For me the Baobab is synonymous with home, as I spent so much time in the African bush, camping and fishing. For nature lovers, this is a must have for your art collection or just to adorn your home.
